Lisa Rodgers, the Deputy Secretary, Early Learning and Student Achievement, from the Ministry of Education has invited us to share the following comments to our community regarding gifted education and our Awareness Week.
“The Ministry of Education believes every individual learner in our education system is important. We want to ensure that every child has the best opportunity to do the best they can – ideally that means that they receive the right support, at the right time, to support their needs. To achieve this, it’s important that we work with parents, families and whānau, and communities, to ensure that we all understand and support the aspirations for all our children.”
To support gifted learners the Ministry of Education directs parents to the parent portal, and educators to the Te Kete Ipurangi website (currently under review).
If you would like to respond to Ms Rodgers, please feel free to contact us and we will collate and forward them to her.
